My ‘set in stone’ weekly day off from life, work and stress – well, theoretically. In practice today was a lie in to satisfy the hunger of exhaustion that comes with a working weekend, followed by some practical activity.

After the briefest amount of housework permissible to maintain the property’s one star rating I turned once again to my reading list. I was delighted to be graced with company from both kittens, although one more than her sister.

I continue to persevere with The Gathering although am getting mental whiplash from the constant leaps in time and sore eyes from how the author is not afraid to be candid. It is basically about a funeral and a very large family, and the history of that family – and the various bits of members of that family that might have felt something or interacted with others at some point. It won a prize. I shall withhold further comment as someone, one day, will no doubt return the favour on some of my own work!

Something else for bedtime reading I think…
