Enjoying my week in the Hampshirian region of Englandshire, and enjoying some rest mingled with time away from the flat.

Wednesday Mother and I attended communion at the parish church where I caught up with some old friends after a nice albeit rushed service. Who knew God was only available for half an hour that morning? Truly wonderful to be in the church where I grew up and very humbling to hear prayers said for me and my health.

Yesterday we could only manage a brief outing as my sleep requirements are rather high of late. Would like to say it’s the drink, and would be very happy to test that hypothesis if you’re paying… A lovely, private time with nature on an old wooden bridge in Farnham. Very beautiful and blessed to see so much nature including ducks, garden birds, dragonflies and trout through the crystal clear waters.

This afternoon we had more time, and a trip to the Alma Mater was overdue. Not campus this time, just the remarkable city and the incredible river running through behind the College and Cathedral. The Sun was out in force, so were the tourists – pack hunters. We did my favourite walk along the river and up into Cathedral Close – via the pub!

I thought, just the once, coming home that it was so fitting to visit the city where my university education began just as I am preparing to go back to a campus based university in September. Suddenly it isn’t quite as scary as it was.
