Well, haven’t you suffered enough?
Not content with finishing my OU course, which I must credit for getting me back to serious writing, I have finally gone and done it. I’ve broken away from the OU English Literature route, I have taken stock of my degrees to date, and have finally jumped in at the deep end. How long I last rests on the amount of air left in the pink inflatable flamingo crushing a waist made up of various tablets (NHS), very good ale and even better single malt.
So, what is it? I have an unconditional place for a PhD at The University of Stirling starting at the end of the month. Scared? Be thankful you don’t do my laundry! Well, it had to come at some point and I am so humbled to have the right people around me as support and cheerleaders even if they don’t understand my field of study. Mainly wheat, malted, and yeast, ferment………..
Why now? Well, my body continues to fail me in spectacular and unexpected form. However, don’t order the wooden box quite yet (5’8.5″, wide fit). My brain still works in a myriad of ways, and this challenge may last only weeks or months “if body says no” or maybe – just maybe I’ll succeed.
Current work includes a narrative on a bank robbery, and the relationship between headmaster and pupil. I hope to self publish as a short story, along with my MLitt dissertation. Watch, yes revisit, this space… Mx
