Oh my, what have my liver and I signed up for???! Things haven’t started fully however, the weight is quite expodisciosciously (spelling??) lowering onto my arthritic (true) shoulders.

I am already one conference down. Autism and Religion (with some focus on autism in literature, which was the bit I was there for) HOWEVER… It was mindblowing to see and hear examples of how autistic people interact with the world, from objects to people to concepts like spiritualism and religion. A fantastic day for anyone who is blessed enough to know an autistic person and be in Higher Education. I asked mainly about autism in fiction, as this is one possible route for me, and got a range of surprising responses, all helpful.

So now we’re really in it, a week in and a set of conversations to show for it. I have so many decisions to make. Define an invisible illness, choose one (or more), choose setting….. story world, build my protagonist and his/her/their early journey,  choose the other narrator(s), just choooooooooooooose. Meeting with supervisors next week to set expectations and I’m going through seven pairs of underwear a day???!!!

Calm… in the beginning is the hardest part of any writing, and the most terrifying  –  the blank page. I’ll admit it, I am scared…
