How wonderful to continue spending time with Mother here in Scotland. Yesterday was very precious as I drove us to a place very meaningful to me, Inveraray.

Even the typical Scottish summer seemed to be on our side, although my impromptu choice of en route lunch venue wasn’t. The ozone was salty and fresh, the ale was perfect and the single malts were tested in sips before selecting a worthy sherry-monster to add to the collection.

The roads were, naturally, suffering from the plague of the slow-moving “isn’t that a nice view Bernard?” caravans that seem to multiply during the 48 hours we call summer. The antidote proving to be chocolate and an array of bad language hitherto unknown to my rather sheltered Mother.
The day was capped by neighbour-git and his DIY and drinking exploits until 1am – well, that was when my efforts of banging various nefarious objects into the wall were abandoned for sleep. Tonight’s episode is just getting going. Drilling, no – not that kind (clean minds only please…) after midnight, then a hoover! Well, at least he thought to clean up I suppose!
Today was one of rest and getting Mother a new phone – whilst saving her £20 on her monthly bill. Thank you Tesco for being so fantastic today. Am now off to spend my lottery winnings, it should cover about one novel on Amazon…
