Back on Scottish mud and remembering that this blog exists, both good things dear readers – I hope that you’re both well….?

University just got real, I mean REAL. Just when you’re getting used to it and beginning to know people’s names – BANG – the first assignments suddenly start to loom and glare from behind the closet door… Am hoping to write something mildly happy as the course reading to date has been a bit, well, dreak. Good stuff, however Samaritans on speed dial fiction…

Our course lead has started us on a novel for next week that deserves a mention. His Bloody Project by Graeme Macrae Burnet. A new level of despair – three murders as you open the book – no preamble… HOWEVER, and a big however, the book to date is incredible and difficult to put down. The writing style, setup, voice, setting – wow.

Church is the hard one this week as I leave after a recital on Sunday afternoon. One man, too many things to juggle. Am being drawn in to the academic world, as far as health allows, and it involves a gift of time which I don’t have at present. For one to succeed, one must go. That doesn’t mean that my soul isn’t being torn apart by that decision. A few clear weeks and weekends for assignment valley can only be a good thing, right? Then why do I feel so shit?

More anon. Kelvingrove later today to exercise the musical muscles.

  1. Well I can see you are getting stuck into your new way of life and seem to be enjoying your new challenges so far. Change of routine can be like a welcome breath of fresh air…

On the other hand your having to give up your Sunday music might be leaving you feel a bit empty from its welcome distraction – any chance of some involvement at Uni on this front ? Maybe not for a while whilst caring for your dad takes up time that you perhaps need for Uni study.

Good luck and enjoy this time in academia – hopefully you will get to immerse yourself in it as much as you can 😊
